How the Smile Club works
It’s simple. You choose how and when to donate. Your donation can be taken from your bank account or debited from your credit card on the 1st, 15th or 20th of each month. At the end of each financial year we send you a tax receipt in plenty of time for your tax return.
Your donation is eligible to receive a tax rebate from IRD. Individuals can now claim tax rebates up to the level of their taxable income, while companies and Māori authorities can claim deductions for donations up to the level of their annual net income.

Our Campaigners
IHC’s face-to-face campaigners believe strongly in our mission to improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and their families, and work hard to seek support for us. They have an essential role in helping build our monthly giving programme, the Smile Club.
You’ll see our campaigners working for us on the street, at shopping malls, and occasionally on your doorstep. They are able to tell you about the important work IHC does, and about the benefits of making a monthly gift to IHC.
IHC has used specialist face-to-face fundraising agencies for many years and has found this form of fundraising to be one of the most affordable and cost effective ways of attracting new supporters to IHC.
IHC and its face-to-face fundraising agencies are members of the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association (PFRA) of New Zealand. The PFRA works with charities and service providers to ensure quality, integrity and transparency in face-to-face fundraising by creating an atmosphere of public confidence and regulatory satisfaction. All members adhere to strict standards. For more information, please visit the PFRA website.
The Process
- IHC face-to-face campaigners will be smartly dressed, wearing IHC branded clothing (a pink tabard with the IHC logo).
- They will have a lanyard with their identification details.
- They will never ask for or accept a cash donation.
- They will be carrying relevant material about IHC.
If you agree to sign up to give a monthly donation to IHC, our face-to-face campaigners will ask you to provide personal information and bank details to allow automatic monthly donations. All this information is kept strictly confidential.
If you have any questions or concerns about our campaigners, please call our Smile Club team on 0800 746 444 or email smile.club@ihc.org.nz
