The Library is open to anyone living in New Zealand over 18. Our Library is used by people all over the country including people with intellectual disabilities or autism, families, teachers, students, researchers and professionals.
You can join the Library by registering online, registering in person, or by phoning us. You need to be over 18 to join. Contact us if you have forgotten your login details, please don’t re-register.
IHC Library is open to visitors. Please make sure you carry a mask as requirements are constantly changing and you may need to wear one. You can visit the library on the 14th Floor, 57 Willis Street, Wellington. We're open 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday, except for public holidays.
Visit our online catalogue where you can search and request resources or information no matter where you are in New Zealand. You can check your library account; renew items you've borrowed and update your contact details. Information comes in a variety of formats – books, DVDs, journal articles, online videos and eBooks.
If you need information or have questions about intellectual disability or a related topic, we can help you. Please call us on 0800 442 442 or email librarian@ihc.org.nz if you prefer. We aim to get back to you within 1–2 working days.
We can connect you with information from our collection in our ebooks, through our streaming videos and online articles.

Wellington region borrowers can also drop items at the Library or leave returns with staff at Unity Books at 57 Willis Street. Returns at Unity Books must be parcelled and labelled ‘Return to IHC Library’.
As a way of providing support and advice to families and introducing you to the IHC Library, we would like to give you a free book relevant to your child's needs. This is available to families with a child or family member with autism or an intellectual disability that 0–24 years old.

The IHC Family-Whānau Liaison programme runs in Northland, Christchurch, Wairarapa and Auckland Central with thanks to the IHC Foundation. The Family-Whānau liaisons assist families in finding information and accessing support.
