IHC Member Council call for Expression of Interest
We are currently looking for two IHC members to join our Member Council. The IHC Member Council was established under Rule 15 of the IHC Constitution and Rules.
The primary role of the Council is to act as an advisory committee to the IHC Board and facilitate communication between the Board, the members, the Associations and the wider community.
Two new members sought
The Council can have up to twelve (12) members and are looking to add two new members at this time.
Selection process
In the first instance we are canvassing our IHC membership and Association networks to identify people interested and suitable for appointment.
We also intend to extend our search via the IHC website and our other community networks.
Background and skills sought
We are keen to strengthen the Council by seeking expression of interest from people from diverse backgrounds. We are particularly interested in people who:
- Are Māori and can enrich our cultural competence and practice.
- Bring advocacy skills and expertise in planning and driving campaigns.
- Have good community networks particularly among young families.
- Have strong links with allied community organisations.
In addition, suitable candidates will:
- Be an IHC member (or willing to become one).
- Be prepared to devote the required amount of time to Council business.
- Have the ability to move between the personal and the political and contribute at a strategic level.
- Have lived experience of intellectual disability.
Process for signalling interest
If you are interested in being considered for appointment, fill out the Expression of Interest form. This needs to be completed by Monday 8 July 2024.
