Update to families – Cyclone Gabrielle – 15 February
We are continuing to keep an eye on Cyclone Gabrielle as it moves off to the east of the country. Its impact continues to be severe in many places and we are doing all that we can to keep in touch with our local staff in the worst-hit regions.
We made a few precautionary evacuations and have seen minimal damage to properties, but we know power outages and telecommunication problems are continuing to affect many households.
We are incredibly thankful for the outstanding job our support workers have done to help us manage the situation so well.
In Hawke’s Bay, Tairāwhiti, Whakatāne, Thames and Paeroa our community hubs and offices remain closed.
For the rest of the country, all services are open tomorrow.
