Congratulations to IHC’s Michael Holdsworth - MNZM
IHC’s Library Assistant Michael Holdsworth has been awarded his MNZM by Governor General Cindy Kiro.
Michael was named a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for his services to the Special Olympics.
At the time Michael said he was very honoured and that, “With all the years of Special Olympics it has been the best thing of my sport.”
Michael has been involved with Special Olympics for more than 32 years, including recently as a Global Ambassador.
He has also worked for IHC in the library for 27 years.
Those of us who are lucky enough to know Michael, know that he is absolutely sport-mad – a keen fan but also a keen player of many sports. He’s an accomplished skier and swimmer who has competed here and overseas.
But this award recognises his role in supporting and leading others to participate and achieve.
Congratulations from all the team Michael.
